Train · Space

Space ear training. Give every part somewhere to sit.

Where it sits, where the band sits, how wide it is, how far back it is, how much room is around it, where its echoes land. A reference is hidden in the song: set your own pan, width, distance, reverb or delay until yours sounds the same, then hear what was left.

What it trains

Hear the space. Then set it.

A few percent of pan, a little more width, a touch more reverb: small moves that change where a part sits in a mix. Here you make the move by ear and find out how close you got.

How do the levels work?

Each exercise has five levels, and each asks for a closer match than the last. Match the Space sets the send and the decay one at a time before asking for both. A level is five songs; an average of 80 passes, and you can go back to any level.

What if I can’t hear the difference?

After a miss, open Help me hear it. Play your attempt against the reference, double the difference that’s left, then hear the correction. Take that back to the control and make the move yourself.

Do I need headphones?

Yes: stereo headphones, with mono audio and spatial audio switched off. Every setting plays at the same loudness, so you’re hearing the space, not the level.
