A narrow resonance is ringing somewhere between 150 Hz and 6 kHz. Sweep a narrow boost to find the resonant frequency, mark it, then set a cut to take it out: the sweep-and-destroy move for a ringing snare, a boxy room or a harsh vocal.
How it works
- Press Play and flip between Clean and Ringing until you can hear the ring.
- Sweep your band until the ring jumps out, then mark it.
- Set the cut: frequency and depth. Listen with your band in, and check.
How it’s scored
40% for how close your mark is to the ring and 60% for how much of the ring is left after your cut. Cutting deeper than the ring counts against you at half weight. Pass with a 65 average over five challenges.
Levels
Five levels: find the ring on pink noise, a narrower ring, on a drum kit, in a full mix, and Needle, the narrowest ring in the mix. Levels 1 and 2 are free. Levels 3 and up are part of Mix Chops Pro, and every level is open while Mix Chops is in early access.
